New Home

A5

I had to make this in a hurry this morning for my DD to give to the new family who have bought their house and moved in today.
Yesterday was DD and family's first night in their new home. I am really struggling to make a card for them. Lately I am having difficulty choosing BP's. Maybe it is because I have a lot of digi downloads and therefore too much choice.
I am making an effort to use up some of my stash instead of printing new each time.

The BP here is from a Joanna Sheen pack. The flower and leaf I found in my bit box. Must have been lurking there for years.
The image is from the free start up set from pcCrafter

Thank you for stopping by. Any comments you care to leave are greatly appreciated.

This is very interesting....

Dontcha learn something new every day.
This was something I didn't know.
Maybe some of you did but I'm posting it anyway :-)

I received this email from a friend today .........

Can you tell when you are in a hotel room, restroom, motel etc. with a mirror whether it is in fact a mirror or 2-way glass?

Here's how:

I thought it was quite interesting! And I know in about 30 seconds you're going do what I did and find the nearest mirror... Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or not? This is not to scare you, but to make you aware. A policewoman who travels all over the U.S. and gives seminars and techniques for businesswomen passed this on.
When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them)? There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at? Just conduct this simple

Test: Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror.
However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, FOR IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!
"No Space, Leave the Place" So remember, every time you see a Mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything.

Remember: "No Space, Leave the Place"

Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters, daughters, etc.
Men: Share this with your wives, daughters, daughters-in-law, mothers, girlfriends and friends.

PS All my mirrors are genuine ROFL

First Holy Communion

I wonder if I can get away with this for The Pink Elephant challenge?
This is the card.............

and this is the sketch

BP's are from digi sets and I used my new Fiskars lace border punch. The lovely Melinda has Glamour Dust sparkled wings and has been lightly coloured with copics.
There is some more lace border and a matching flower on the insert with a prayer and the greeting. I had to add a little bit of real lace and some bling on the flower centres.

Thank you for your lovely comments, blogging buddies, you really make my day :-)

Friday Sketchers - 49, and Son's birthday

I used this weeks lovely sketch from Friday Sketchers to make my son's birthday card.
I am afraid I didn't do the sketch justice and am not really happy with the outcome.
My excuse is that I had to make 3 cards in a hurry last night. His birthday is today.
I feel a naughty Mum for not making more of an effort this year. But then, he won't inspect it very closely.
It'll be 'Thanks Mum' and give me a kiss and be more interested in his present, I hope!!!

He is a mad keen fisherman and I had already coloured this image and I worked around that. My dear blogging friend Chrissie (one very talented lady) kindly sent me some stamped images a while ago this being one of them. Thank you once again Chrissie :-)

A closer look at the net of fishes. Probably more than he caught on Saturday :-)

Got a funeral to go to this morning, so must dash.

Thank you for the lovely comments my friends. I have had a lot on lately and have neglected my fave pastime, visiting your fantastic blogs.
I hope to get back to doing so soon :-)

Two 40th cards - His and Hers

These are the last of the 40th birthday cards - I can hear sigh of relief :-)
These are for our lovely neighbours across the road
We left them enjoying their joint party around 11.30 last night. I am not expecting to see them out and about before lunchtime today.

This is for Matt. It is rather plain as I couldn't decide how to embellish it.
I have never asked what his interest are which may have made the job easier.
The only thing I added apart from the raffia were some punched leaves which are a very pale green and are nearly invisible!!

Mandy's card was much easier to do. Cards for ladies usually are, aren't they.

The BP's are 'Gorgeous Papers' by Gypsy Chick from Scrap Artist. Aptly named they really are gorgeous.
I used only two of these lovely designs, one is on the inside and used one of the others to make some flowers which are 'sparkled' with some Glamour Dust and added a bought flower and a pearl. The swirl is also sparkled.

I made another little pin to match the colour scheeme.

Would you believe I started this post at 7.30 this morning.
Have only just had time to finish it :-/

Thanks for your visit. Do please feel free to leave a comment, they are always very welcome and appreciated.

Sketch Saturday - 47

A5

Yippee! In spite of all the decorating at DD's new house I've managed to make a card for a challenge.
I had to make a congratulations card for my friend in the US who has just become a Great Grandmother and used this weeks lovely sketch.

Baby Ellen Irene was born April 2 so I am very late with this card. I hope my dear friend will forgive me and that it arrives before she and her hubby leave for their trip over here.

I was having a search for baby images on my PC and came across BP's and a decoupage sheet with the Funky Fairies logo on. Now I don't remember buying these so maybe they were a free download. I have used one of the several insert sheets from this kit instead of doing my own.

This card is a bit more 'fancy' than I would normally make but I couldn't resist the cute little pram.

Thank you for your visit and any comments you care to leave will be greatly appreciated :-)

Sympathy card

A5

We heard the sad news that a friend of hubby's died at the weekend.

I have used the free Magnolia decoupage that Jak kindly posted on her excellent blog back in February.

The backing paper comes with the image so all I had to do was put it all together.

I had made a little black and crystal 'stick pin' which I have added as a finishing touch

Thank you for visiting and I will be happy to receive any comments you care to leave.

40th card - No: 2

A5 landscape

The birthday girl had a great party last night although I haven't heard how she is feeling today :-)
I used one of the large petals from a Gerbera flower from Dunelm which are usually too big for cards. Adding the greeting cut with a round nestie to the centre filled it up. Sometimes I fold the large flowers but had this idea to give a different look.

After the pic was taken I decided to add some Glamour Dust to the edge of the sentiment circle. The no:40 was cut on the CB and then put through the swiss dots folder. Afterwards I wish I'd left it plain.

I had to make three cards and the third was a card I had made for a challenge.

Thank you for your visit and any comments you care to leave are always appreciated.

West Ham Fan

A quick card today requested for a West Ham fan.
I have decoupaged the crest and made a football BP. I got the image of the stadium from the 'net.
Not a lot more to say about it except that afterwards I realised that I should have matted the stadium image.

Had another busy day entertaining 6yr old grandson, decorating this afternoon and then gardening. I said decorating but I was rubbing down woodwork. I have volunteered to do some undercoating tomorrow in the hope that it will be a bit easier :-)
I have ragged broken fingernails and sore hands. I am sure they will recover eventually.

I am sorry that I have not had time to do my usual blog visits. I have missed seeing all your lovely creations.
Another regret is missing so many challenges.

Thanks for popping in and any comments you have time to leave will be really appreciated.

40th birthday

Back again to 40th birthday cards!
This is the first of six (maybe even seven)I have to make in the next two weeks.
Fortunately they are for three different recipients.

Once again this is one of my hand-cut templates made on PM6.5 although the 'open' numbers are done in Word.

I think I may have overdone the Glamour Dust (a new aquisition,
have you guessed?).
I really got carried away and 'bling'ed'
anything not glued down :-)

I made another little stick pin and
placed it behind a flower.

I used various papers already printed, also some lace, organza ribbon and some pretty flowers from Artoz. Well, that's what it says on the box!

Thank you for your visit. Please feel free to leave a comment, I do appreciate them all.

A sweet little freebie

I have used this weeks sketch from
Sketch and Stash Challenge 7 to show off this little cutie.

This sweet little flower girl is a freebie kindly given by Bee at Bee Crafty for the first competition to launch her new digi downloads. They are really cute, pop over to see for yourself.

The other new thing I've used is the dragonfly stamp. Had it for sometime but this is the first time it has seen ink.

Flower girl was coloured with copics and she is fixed with some silicone.
I have added a little bit of sparkle to the all of the flowers.
The BP's are all odd pieces.

Thank you for popping by and please feel free to leave a comment it will be greatly appreciated

Sketch Saturday - 45

I am pleased that I have managed to make a card for a challenge this week.
I needed a card for a friend we met on holiday some years ago and have used Tracie's sketch who is this week's designer for Sketch Saturday

I had to rotate the sketch to fit the A5 portrait base I wanted and think it will be acceptable for the challenge.

Thank you for visiting.
I will be pleased if you have time to leave a comment, they are all very welcome :-)

One Stop Craft Challenge - 22

One Stop Craft Challenge this week is 'Bling Tastic'.
Who needs an excuse to use some bling? Not me!!!

This card is for Hubby's Aunt who will be 88 on Monday.

I have wanted to make some jewelley stick pins for some time but haven't had time to find a source for the pins so decided to use head pins. I bought some on Saturday (can't find the ones I thought I had) and added one of my efforts to the card.

We've been so busy at DD's new house it looks like cardmaking and blogging will be taking a back seat for a while.

Thank you for visiting and for any comments you are kind enough to leave
