A Sad Farewell with "The Sound of Music"

*************************************

Sadly this is the last challenge from Crafty Ann's , sob, sob.
Ann has made a difficult decision and is closing  the challenge blog and shop.
I was so proud and excited when Ann asked me to join her design team and will always be grateful to Ann for having faith in me and taking me on.

Amazingly that  was nearly three years ago.....and three wonderful friendly years they have been too.  I have learned so much from Ann and my lovely talented teamies. It has been a great experience and an interesting learning curve and my thanks to you all, it's  been an honour and a pleasure to work with you

So.....the final challenge #84 at Crafty Ann's is.....

This is my 70th DT card which by chance co-incides with my 70th birthday on Monday, eeeeek... thinking of it as the 30th anniversary of my 40th birthday sounds better, LOL.

When Ann announced the theme for this challenge choosing  this fab digi was the obvious choice for me. I have always liked it and didn't really need an excuse.
I've teamed it with two BP's from mottled stone - very useful are these as they  have a slightly distressed look which I love.

I overstamped the brown BP with this Penny Black music stamp and embossed with copper EP . To give it a bit of a lift I've placed the image on a piece of frayed muslin with foam tape.

I finished off with brown lace, a satin ribbon bow, a pearl button and a rosebud coloured with red copic the same as the roses on the digi.

It will be lovely if you played along with us for the very last challenge.

Do pop over to CACB and have a decco at the gorgeous samples from DT and then add your own 'Sound of Music'.
There will be three chances to win any three items for this final challenge
You may also want to join in with the informal blog hop with a prize of any item of your choice from the shop.
You will find full details over on the challenge blog.

I'd also like to enter.........
OSAAT #152 - use a digi
A Gem of a Challenge #68  - add a bow
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Pretty Little Ribbon #19  - anything goes (3rd entry)

Thank you for stopping by :) and don't forget one of your comments will win a prize!!
Cheers me dears :)

Love Actually

************

For this fortnights challenge we are turning to a film title again for inspiration and this week it is........

Love Actually

I have chosen the lush gold paper from APPATW for the BG. I placed the lovely red embossed hearts BP into the metallic frames digitally, added the words, printed on to photo paper  and then cut them both out.
These are then slightly shaped and simply laid on to a piece of fringed muslin.
All elements can be found in the shop here

I felt the edges need a little treatment so I got out the trusty peel-offs - something I don't do very often these days but are just the job sometimes. The little hearts in the corners are punched from a little bit of left over embossed hearts paper.

Do pop over to CACB and check out the fabby DT work for inspiration

I'd also like to enter these challenges

Crafty Ann's Challenge #81

************************

Happy New Year everyone!!

The first challenge of 2013 is

1 IMAGE...2 PAPERS...3 EMBELLISHMENTS
but NO FLOWER embellishments

This really was a challenge for me, a flower addict who puts them on almost everything except mens cards, lol.

For my image I chose the lovely Venetian Mask which is now my favourite of the set :)
The purple paper is from the Funky collection and the green is Polished stone all from the shop here

I printed and cut two layers for the eye mask and the top piece and adhered with silicone to give some dimension.
I made my own template for the green mat in Serif PPx5 using a bracket shape.

I used gold pen to highlight the braid and around the eyes. I used copics to colour.
The fleur de lis accents are coloured with gold dabber and the gold ribbon bow completes my three embellishments.

We hope you can play along with us for this first challenge of the year.
Do pop over to  CACB  and have a look at the excellent samples fab DT have produced  for your inspiration.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas at Crafty Ann's

*********************************************

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
~ white on white background with a coloured image/topper ~

This is the last challenge 0f 2012 and a new challenge will start in the new year
  4 January 2013

This lovely poinsettia is from the  Trad-Temporary Christmas digital scrapbook kit*
I  printed it on on photo paper and decoupaged three layers and I think  it looks real pretty.
A little tip (though maybe everyone does this already, lol)  - I don't like to see the white cut edges so I always go around the edge with a matching colour marker - this seems to give the layers more substance.

I've sparkled up the Nestie floral oval, some of the snowflakes and around the edges of the snowflake embossed BP.

Simply finished with some white organza ribbon found languishing in my stash.

I painted the snowflake - made with the XCut embossing punch - with iridescent medium and added glitter while wet, and added it to the bow.
Shame you can't see all the sparkle in this pic.

*Most if not all of the elements in any of the scrapbooking kits can be used for cardmaking, they are not just for scrapbookers :)

The lovely DT have made a great job of ths challenge and their samples are well worth a visit over at   CACB .
We hope you will play along with us for this final challenge of the year and look forward to seeing your White on White creations and wish you a Merry Christmas and very best wishes for 2013.

Tic Tac Toe at Crafty Ann's

*************************

The topic for this fortnight has been chosen by Kym

~~ Tic Tac Toe ~~

use three items in a row horizontally, diagonally or vertically

I have chosen the bottom line and used the pink abstract pattern for the main BP which I lightly over-stamped with TH flourish stamp using Sugar Pink DI in two corners.
I then used pale brown embossed dots paper, roughed up and sponged the edges - did the same with a piece of music paper and also curled two corners.
Both papers can be found in the shop.
I've had the pretty lady stamp for yonks and can't remember where I got her. She  has been languishing for too long and needed to get out into the world again :)
She has been glued to a Spellbinder oval and this is fixed on to the music paper  with foam pads

.

The charm, lace, seam binding ribbon and pearls from my stash.

You can see my lovely DT buddies fantastic samples over at CACB

Christmas in October at Crafty Ann's

********************************

Another fortnight has just whizzed by and it's time again for another challenge at CACB
Christmas in October

Crafty Ann's Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Kit is one of my favourites so it is no surprise that this is my choice for this challenge.

I started off with making a frame from the mitred gold peel off for the gorgeous gold starry paper from the Rhapsody in Blue Kit  (the only item NOT from The Traditional Christmas Kit). I then layered  it on to the gold paper.
I added the greeting, made in my graphics programme, to another plainer gold paper to go in the lush Holly Frame and finished with the lovely green ribbon with diamante buckle.

You can see my lovely DT buddies fantastic samples over at CACB
It will be lovely if you can join us for this challenge and get another Christmas card done and dusted.

**********************************

Black and White and one other colour
OR
Black and White and a coloured topper

I have used this diagonal stripe paper from the B&W collection and part of the music collage digi.
Quite simple really, but very effective with just the roses coloured with copics.
The image is fixed with foam tape and the swirly bit is something saved on my PC, origin unknown

I do hope you will have time to join us for this challenge - my DT buddies have some great inspiration for you  over at CACB just the perfect excuse to nip over to have a look-see.

The Challenge of.......The Film Title

************************

~~ be inspired by a film title ~~
and mine is

Singing' in the Rain

I doubt many of you will remember this film it is rather an oldie - a bit like me, LOL.
A 1952 American musical comedy film starring Gene Kelly,  and Debbie Reynolds  - two very popular fimstars of their time
It was accorded its legendary status by contemporary critics and is now frequently described as one of the best musicals ever made.
I didn't make this up myself, Jeeves told me :)

I haven't used this cute little ducky image before and this was what inspired the choice of film.  When you look back on our 'summer' it is quite appropriate.
The green BP is from one of my favourite collections - polished stone....the image is matted on to mid brown wood effect.......gems with gold rim from Traditional Christmas .....tag from Cream Dream and all can be found here

M' duck is a local term of endearment if you were wondering, lol.

We do hope you will be able to join us for this challenge - it will be interesting to see your choice of film title.
My talented team mates have come up with some brilliant projects again this fortnight,  so do pop over to the CACB blog to check them out .

I'll be sunning myself on holiday as you are reading this so please forgive me if I'm late commenting on your entries.

Sketch Time at Crafty Ann's

*************************

Crafty Ann's Challenge #74

Sketch and/or theme of Autumn colours

I started off with a BG of embossed dots and then made a mat of metallic paper and edged with a pearl frame.
I enlarged one of the pearls and added the large pink flower as a centrepiece.
Three flowers, leaf sprays and lace and job done :)

I used -
Embossed dots + metallic paper
Leaves + pink flower - Eggstavaganza
Pearl + pearl frame + small flowers - Cream Dream
all from Ann's shop here
Lace - elsewhere

We hope you like this sketch and will be able to join us for this challenge -  we will love to see what you create with it .

Circles at Crafty Ann's - Challenge #71

*********************************

...and this fortnight's theme is...

Circles
~ there needs to be more than one on your project please ~.

The Olympics may give you some inspiration but I have, perhaps predictably, gone down the vintage route.

The main BP's are embossed dots and mottled stone, edges distressed with frayed burlap DI - the white frame and the bow are from the Tempting Turquoise digital scrapbook kit .  The  gold behind the frame is one of the metallic papers and the pearl - I added the sentiment digitally - is from the Cream Dream kit.  All can be found here in  the digi shop

The fashionable ladies image is from one of the free vintage digital sites, which one I forget.

I covered the join with this lovely lace and finished off with the flower and leaves

We hope you will be able to play along with us for this lovely circles challenge - Olympics or not - whatever you choose.
There is plenty of fabby inspiration by the DT to be found over at CACB  if you care to pop in and have a look-see :) and then add your own circle creations.

CACB #70 - Easel Cards

*********************

Easel Cards/Projects

I haven't made an easel card in quite a while and enjoyed making this one.

I love the Poinsettia with Script digi and the best thing is that it is pre-coloured - such a bonus if you are strapped for time.
I love the other colours too but went with this green border one for my card today.

This beautiful  backing paper is from the Traditional Christmas Scrapbook Kit.  It really is the most gorgeous red.
I finished the card simply, with just a red organza bow.

I hope you will join in this challenge with your easel cards.
The DT have some gorgeous designs for your inspiration over at Crafty Ann's so do pop over to see them.

Paper Peicing at Crafty Ann's

**************************

...and this fortnight it is...
Paper Piecing

Paper piecing is a new technique for me so I've gone for something CAS, something else I rarely do.
The image is the lovely morning glory printed directly on to cream coloured card. The flowers are pieced with the bright pink from the Polished Stone collection and the leaves with one of the Abstract collection from Crafty Ann's digi shop.

I hope you will join us for this challenge.

Memories are Made of This

************************

Memories are made of this
This can be interpreted in different ways.
Vintage style which could be anything (card, atc, bookmark, tag, gothic arch etc -
or you can go down the scrapbook page/mini album route with memories
of any vintage - even yesterday!

It is my lovely daughter and wonderful son-in laws wedding anniversary next month so I used the challenge to make a card for them.

I chose Embossed Hearts for the main BP and Polished Stone as a mat for the pic which is popped up with foam pads. The frame around the pic is made from the gold lace digi in the Traditional Christmas collection.

I cut a heart from white corrugated card, painted it with iridescent medium and added some fine glitter powder.

The extravagant bow is deliciously soft silk ribbon with a pearl button from my local haberdashers.  My DD's dress was made of wild silk so I have been very generous and parted with some of this gorgeous silk ribbon from Funkie Junkie Linda's boutique - well, as they say...she's worth it,  LOL.
The tassle trim is a wonderful match for the ribbon,
The words computer generated.

It would have been nice if I'd used flowers a that were a closer match to the colour of those in her bouquet but these were the nearest I had.
I do have some left from when I did the wedding flowers,  but they are too big for this card. - 19 years ago, which proves what a hoarder I am.
The bouquet  took days to make but we were all happy with the result and I was very proud of it.

We hope you will share your memories with us for this challenge - you really must pop over to CACB and see what delights the DT have come up with.for this challenge.

I'd also like to enter this into the following challenges

Butterflies and Flowers at Crafty Ann's

*********************************

-~~ we want to see both on your project please
but it can be just one of each
as long as they are the main focal points and not tiny little embellishments ~~~

I have chosen  Cream Dream from the scrapbook collections with the butterfly from here.
I added just a little colour to the butterfly and the bow for a simple finish.

We hope you will be able to play along with us for this lovely challenge - butterflies and flowers are such a great subject. There is plenty of delicious inspiration by the DT to be found over at CACB  if you care to pop in and have a look-see :) and add your own butterflies and flowers creations.

Hide & Seek at Crafty Ann's

************************

I am away for a while and will be back 2 June :)

Hide and Seek

~~hide something on your project~~
eg. hidden sentiment or journalling, a tag or bookmark tucked behind something,
a sentiment or picture tucked under a flap etc.

I have used papers from the polished stone collection - the purple with a lace border is from the brights, the green and the pink flowers from the pastels.

I added a some sparkle with glitter glue to the diecut flowers and also to the gold brad in the centres.

My little tag which says 'Happy birthday dear friend' is hidden in the cut off corner.

The sentiment on the nestie label is from Host of Golden Daffodils, covered with micro beads which gives it a sort of holographic look to it and it is popped up with foam pads
The butterfly is embossed with Gwen's Gold EP

Ribbon
Butterfly punch
Lace

Stitching at Crafty Ann's

**********************

Stitching - real or faux
is your challenge this fortnight

My main BP and the turquoise strip are from one of my favourites the Funky collection.
I have stitched around the main BP and punched a fancy Fiskars edge on the turquoise - tis a shame, but I've always had trouble with this border punch and now it is broken...and I thought it would last me forever :(

I found the perfect page on stitching for this challenge in an old book and the dress form is a freebie from a vintage image site.
The scissors, cotton reel and thimble are from Crafty Ann's sewing sheet . I positioned these on a piece of frayed muslin and added three tiny buttons

I wrapped some thread around the cotton reel and left a length trailing ready to be cut with the scissors.

Additional embellishments -
Tape bought at a craft fair last year
Lace
Small safety pin
Seam binding bow with button
Crinoline flower tinted with spun sugar DI

We'd love to have you join in with this challenge. Just pop over to CACB to see the lovely designs the DT have to show you and to post your very own 'Stitching' creations.

I'd also like to enter ....
