Butterflies in Blue

******************
I've long admired those definition background stamps - among other things, lol, but the craft budget is somewhat restricted
So I found the definition of  'niece'  from the OED, (I've done friend as well) chose a brown colour and made my own.
It is printed on to canvas paper (an Aldi bargain last week) and aged with blending chalk and I'm real pleased with the result.

The butterflies are from Wings & Flowers CD. I love the content of this CD but do wish it was possible to export to a graphics prog. I managed in the end but it was a struggle to get the b/flies where I wanted.

One layer is printed directly on to the b/ground. I printed  the two large b/flies on to photo paper and shaped and layered these on top. The sentiment is printed directly on to the b/ground too.
The inspiration for this came from the 'Butterflies in Blue' article in last Sept Making Cards mag.

Crafts & Me - Spread your wings
Do You Stack Up #8 - Anything goes

60th Easel Card

****************

Inspirational Card Sketches #103 - Easel card
Craft Your Passion #46 - Male card
Lollypop Crafts #27 - Black, white and a pop of colour
Dutch Dare #100 - Sparkle, glitter, bling

For an Arsenal fan :-) and boy did I struggle with this.

I cut a star and covered it in fine black glitter - ooooh, what a messy job! - layered it on to a d'vine swirled mat. The number 60 is Sissix Azure alpha die and the BP is from the Papermania Mono pad.
I printed the 'happy birthday' strip and 'dear husband and layered that on to silver mirri. The sentiment is handcut with fancy scissors

As I had to get something Arsenal in, I printed the logo on to photo paper and used it to hold down the ribbon.

The CD Sunday Challenge

*************************

OH YES!!!   Swirls and Pearls at CD Sunday   this week and here is my entry.

Paper from Debbi Moore's Glitter & Glitz Magic Moments
A flourish cut from black card and glamour dusted
A flower made from crepe paper with pearl centre and glittered edges from the tutorial by Terri. My effort is not a patch on Terri's but still quite pretty.
This is the second outing for my MS border punch - tis funny that I longed for this for so long and now that I've got it I haven't made many cards to suit it.

Close up of crepe flower - but don't examine it too closely.

8th and 9th Birthdays

**********************
For my great nephew and Granson's friend and
Challenge
Pollycraft  #80 - Special birthdays

Both these cards are 'digital productions'.
For this first one I used Summer Driggs Boy oh Boy papers and elements. The stars and the number were made in PhotoPlus.

This one is for young g/son's friend. He had a bowel transplant last summer and has made a remarkable recovery. He spent much of his life from birth in hospital and it is good to see him with more energy and looking so much better. He  will have to learn to eat proper food now as he has always been fed by 'tube'.
This year he is keen on Bagucan!  This is new to me and makes a change from Star Wars or Pokemon :-)

Three Very Different Valentines

******************************

Except for the sentiment panel all of this is made from the free papers from Febs Making cards mag.
I tried to make the same colour for the panel and it looked fine in artificial light but not here - oh well, not to worry.

The rose shapes given in the mag are similar to the roses I have made recently and I added one to the rose on the topper

Challenges
CYDA #13 - Photo inspiration
AiF #67 - Happy Valentines Day
ASFOS #138 - Let's see some love
Creatalicious #18 - Ribbon and love

This card is CASE'd from a video tutorial by Wendy Nasmith

This one is a CASE'd version of a card by Sharon  Cards n Greetings  who CASE'd the idea from Sarita
, but I liked the idea so thought I'd have a go :-)
I used a handmade heart template and the sentiment is embossed with detail gold EP
Could have done better so I'd advise looking at the original version :-)

Shadow Box

 ************

Heather (Rica's Haven) has done a great tutorial on how to make a shadow box.
Here is my attempt. Heather's instructions are excellent and I am pleased with the result.
I have used a lovely border sheet from a K&Co pad to decorate the front. I have managed to line the inner sides and as this was quite a fiddle I would stick the paper on at the beginning 'when' I do another :-)

Image - Debbi Moore Designs - 100 Art Nouveau & Art Deco Images CD...is matted on to gold mirri.
A seam binding bow and a small bouquet to finish.
I am thinking of adding a sentiment/greeting bottom right and it will be perfect for my daughter's birthday.

I hope this qualifies as a fun fold for
Meljen'sChallenge #44
and
Pixie Dust Studio Challenge # 60  is  - Say it with Roses
Top Tip Tuesday #21 - Frame it - I hope you think this looks like a frame

Thank you for stopping by and all those lovely comments on recent posts - so much appreciated :-)

A Rose for 'Mrs Rose'

 ********************

A real quickie  in response to an  SOS from my daughter last night for a card for her MIL's birthday.
It is always tempting to use roses as their surname is Rose.

The striped paper is from the 'exclusive' PP Vintage Rose collection. The rose paper is from Papermania Rose Collection and I've cut around the large rose.

A printed greeting attached with foam pads, seam binding and an extra rose......job done!!

Challenges
Papertake Weekly - Anything goes + flowers
The Crazy Challenge #52 - Happy birthday....celebrating the blogs first birthday
Pear Tree Designs #34 - Flowers

Raise the Bar - Valentine

************
Challenges
Raise the Bar - Hearts
Simon Says - Love is in the air

Last week I was one of the winners over at Raise the Bar Challenges so I have the honour to be  a guest Bartender for this weeks challenge.
The theme is Valentine and to incorporate a heart....to play safe I've used four hearts, lol.
The heart stamp is Penny Black and  I used embossed it with Seafoam white EP - same with the corner stamp. I printed the sentiments on  my PC and then overstamped with the same heart stamp and cut them out.
The large heart is a template I've had for ages and last used about 3 yrs ago for our 45th wedding anniversry card, eeek!!

Another homemade flower with roses and buds from WO + a couple of pearl stamens and a punched leaf.
There is a link here to Brenda's  tutorial on how to make the rose
The pearl embellishment in the centre of the seam binding is a button

Thank you for stopping by :-)
Cheers me dears
