BLOG HOP and Challenge #15

 Sunny Daffodils

It's already time for challenge #15 at Crafty Ann's and we're having our very first BLOG HOP!
We're celebrating the launch of the Flower Collection of pre-coloured images. If you have come to me from seeing Lorraine's gorgeous work you are on the right lines but if not, you need to start at the beginning which is the challenge blog.
To be in with a chance of winning these two sheets from the new collection, just leave me a comment.

Don't forget to collect the two words you need from me which are:

MEDICINE, TO

When you leave here, your next stop will be Wendy who has some wonderful inspiration for you and two more sheets and two more words. When you have visited all the blogs you need to end up back at the challenge blog and follow the instructions on there to find out what to do to be in with a chance of winning the final 5 sheets.

I chose one of the gorgeous toppers from new Daffodils sheet for my challenge card. I have decoupaged the daffs with the unframed image.
The backing papers are from Ann's shop too and are Polished Stone - light green, and Abstract - golden yellow and these compliment the image perfectly.
An MS punched border, some pearls and a crinkly seam binding ribbon and all done!
This was such a pleasure to make and really quick using this image from the new collection.

Thank you for stopping by and 'Good Luck' in the blog hop :-)

And it's Goodbye from Me......

.....but just for two weeks.
We are going on holiday with son and family in the early hours.....
...well, that is the plan...........volcano ash cloud permitting.
My DD is stranded with three friends in Spain as I speak!
They should have flown home yesterday evening and everyone is hoping they will be home tonight.
This 4 night ''cheapy' break is turning out expensive........they have had to pay an extra £300 each for a flight.
I hope they will be able to claim it back on the insurance.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that my scheduled post for Crafty Ann's challenge #15 and Blog Hop  works OK. If any links don't work please accept my apologies in advance.

RightyOh, that's it from me for now. Be good and I'll see you when I get back :-)

Crafty Ann's Challenge #14 - DT card

 80th Birthday Card

Be sure to read to the end of the post for some exciting news

Crafty Ann's  Challenge #14   is 'Anything Goes' .
I chose Ann's Guitar digi image as I needed to make a card for a special birthday and this image was just perfect for what I had in mind.

The gentleman who will receive this is a retired music teacher who plays the guitar. I hope he doesn't try to read the music, hahaha - it is just a repeat of a small Penny Black stamp embossed with detail gold EP.

I 'paper pieced' the guitar using two different coloured wood patterned papers. I  sewed the strings on with plain ordinary cotton and the 'bits' for tightening the strings are gold brads and it is attached with foam pads

It did take a while to do....but I am rather proud of the result.

The image is  Crafty Ann's digi guitar
The scroll greeting is printed on to some parchment type paper and curled - as you can see - and there is another on the inside under the easel bit along with another couple of musical notes but I forgot to take a pic of that.

I do hope you will be able to join in with the challenge this time.  I will be away on holiday during the challenge but look forward to visiting your blogs and seeing what you come up with when I get back.

And don't forget to join us for the next challenge on 21st of May becuase we have our very first BLOG HOP to celebrate the launch of...................ooops, I can't tell you. You'll have to wait until the 21st to find out - but there are prizes to be won on every blog so don't forget to put the date in your diary

There is really not much more to say about this except.....Thank you for stopping by :-)

Cards for Son's Birthday

From me and Dad
Googled fish and image with digitally added greeting and printed on photo paper.

Cards for Men #9 -  is monochrome so I hope this is acceptable.

I have cut out the fish and layered them with silicone on to a piece of net for a bit of added interest.

From sister. The letters were cut out and covered with some of the free papers from the April edition of Making Cards. They are fixed with foam pads for dimension as is the star.
I had the spotty paper was already printed and can't remember where it is from.

Another googled image and I have tucked in a pic of g/son

I spent most of the day doing these three cards in between interruptions from hubby (roll eyes!!!)
It is son's birthday tomorrow but hadn't had time to do them sooner hence the rush.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you'll call in again :-)

The theme for this challenge is a recipe -
One main image + a maximum of three colours + one ribbon and three flowers

The cutie sitting on it was a RAK from a lovely teamie.
The backing paper is Embossed Hearts from the Earth Tones collection
Colouring medium - copics and a promarker.
Vintage seam binding and flowers from stash

Do pop over to Crafty Ann’s Challenge Blog and see the other fantastic DT samples

3rd Birthday

I have made this card for the following challenges:

Sketch & Stash #33 - Sketch
Meljens Designs #4 - For the little ones
Lexi's Creations #12 - Recipe - 3 papers, 2 embellishments, 1 image
Penny's Paper-Crafty - Anything goes

I got this image from Jak Heath a while ago and this is the first time I have used it.
I digitally layered papers to the right size to save time and of course it saved paper and ink as well. I made the stripey strip to match using colours from the BP's.
The image is matted on to a silver mirri circle and cut around with fancy scissors.
I added a small blue button to the centre of the larger red one. The only other embellishment is the 3 stars.

Thank you for stopping by and for all the encouraging comments left recently - each and every one really appreciated.

CD Sunday Challenge

This week Wendy's new CD SundayChallenge was launched and the first challenge is
'Wings & things!'

This is the opportunity to dust off some of your CD's and get creating.
I have a very limited number of CD's so it was a challenge in itself to find something suitable join in the fun and support Wendy in her new venture. The new design team have come up with some gorgeous creations.

The topper is from Oriental Dreams. I enlarged one of the white wisteria flowers, printed it twice and added them to the side of the main image with a good blob of silicone.
I've added a white feather and lovely pale blue organza ribbon.
Actually it looks quite nice IRL.

Thank you for stopping by

Bleached flowers

The April challenge at the Joanna Sheen forum is bleaching.
This is the second time I have used this technique.
It took 23 attempts to get a decent image!!! But I think the problem was that I've only got thick bleach and am sure the thin variety is what you should use. It also took all afternoon to get the card finished - in between entertaining grandson.

I'll let you into a little secret here - I stuck front on to the base card upside down, so as you look at this the opening is on the left.

The blossom stamp is from a JS oriental collection that I won in the monthly competition a few years ago.
I have 'doodled' (very badly) some stamens in the centre of the flowers on the stamped image with a silver pen - not sure it adds anything to this though.

The papers are leftovers. Some prima flowers coloured with a green copic marker and some green organza ribbon finish it off.

Thank you for stopping by and for all the encouraging comments left recently - they areall so very much appreciated.

Thank You Card

Charisma Cardz challenge 14 - Thank you

This is for my youngest grandson's swimming teacher.

This is mostly made with leftovers. The flower is one of Crafty Ann's digi's and the centre is a swirl of pearly appli-glue.

Thank you for stopping by :-)

70th Birthday

Allsorts challenge 47 - petals and pearls
Meljens challenge 2 - girly colours
One Stitch at a Time challenge 7 - Anything goes
Pollycraft challenge 38 - Anything goes

The sketch is Clare's Weekly Challenge at DoCrafts - I've only entered this challenge once before but thought this weeks sketch was just right for the card I wanted to make.

This is for a friend we met in Portugal a few years ago. Having been busy with 'paying' jobs I left it a bit late doing this so I hope she gets it in time for her birthday.

The flowers were white and I spritzed them with Cosmic Shimmer spray.
I used Ruby Red - I'm loving this stuff, although the other colours are rather pale - I guess I need to be more generous with the powder.
The BP is called Sprout from Shabby Shoppe - I think this collection will become a favourite of mine.

Papers - Shabby Shoppe digi download
Flowers - Wild Orchid
Pearl pin - Wild Orchid plus another pearl and a crystal

80th Birthday Card

Another easel card - I seem to be doing a lot of these lately.
This is for my neighbour's Mum to give to her husband for his 80th birthday.
I was told his interests are....cricket, rugby and brass bands....I haven't got a decent cricket image and have recently done a rugby card, so I googled musical instruments and images and found a flugelhorn which is the instrument he plays. The old photo is of a local band.
Edit: He Loved it!

Did you think it was a trumpet??? I couldn't tell the difference but I am assured he will. There are two layers and have to say what a 'fiddle' (ooops , sorry) they were to cut out.

The bottom paper is the same as the top but my rubbishy photography makes it look a different colour.

A Spoonful of Sugar challenge 98 is One for the Boys.
Incy Wincy 37 - Fancy folds
Pile it On 13 - Easel card

I hope this is not too boring for these challenges.

Thank you for stopping by and the lovely comments you leave.

Diamond Wedding

8" square

There is a lot of sparkle and bling on this Diamond Wedding Anniversary card.
I covered the Sissix flourish with glamour dust, the doily with glitter glue and the flowers, with irridescent gold glimmer mist.
The large curly rose is new from Wild Orchid.

The addition of a few 'diamonds', organza ribbon and a little peel-off butterfly finish it off.

The box is made of silver mirri card and the top edged with peel-offs. The Nellie Sneddon frame with the number on looked a bit bare on the front so I used a Spellbinder Fleur de Lys shape underneath.
I really struggle with these. They won't cut through my cardstock and when I use paper I have a right job to get the shape out of the die. Still, I shall persevere because I do like them.

A lace bow and some flowers - finished.

This is for the following challenges
Creative Inspirations - No stamped images
Daring Cardmakers - Diamond
Papertake - open theme

My apologies for lack of blog visiting.
I have been very busy since my last post but hardly enjoying myself.
Last w/end I was helping hubby and grandson concrete a base for his new shed.
Barrowing sand n gravel and mixing the odd load of concrete is not my idea of how to spend a Saturday.
Tuesday was our 47th wedding anniversary which was spent hedge cutting and gardening.
Thursday we had 2 new radiators put in and the shed was delivered...delivery chap left it in the driveway....getting the panels around the back was hard work.
Friday more panel shifting while bubby gave it a coat of preservative.
Today I've been a gofer while son did the heavy work putting the shed together.
I ache like billy-oh, must be old age or summat, hahaha.

Thank you for stopping by and for all the lovely encouraging comments left recently.
I appreciate every one.
